Patience Ozokwo (Mama - G)

Patience Ozokwor (born 14 September 1958), popularly known as Mama G or G for General, is a celebrated Nigerian Nollywood actress, television personality, fashion designer, and musician. She won the Best Supporting Actress award at the 10th Africa Movie Academy Awards in both 2012 and 2013. Ozokwor is widely recognized for portraying wicked characters in some of her films. In 2014, she was honored as one of the top 100 Nigerians by the government, in commemoration of the country's amalgamation.

On May 20, 2023, Patience Ozokwor received the Merit Award at the 2023 Africa Magic Viewers' Choice Awards.

Early Life

Patience Ozokwor was born in Amaobo, Ngwo, in present-day Enugu State, Nigeria. She attended Abimbola Gibson Memorial School in Lagos and developed a passion for acting while still in primary school, participating in various stage plays. She later earned a degree in Fine and Applied Arts from the Institute of Management and Technology, Enugu. Before beginning her acting career, she worked in radio drama and appeared in the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) soap opera Someone Cares. She married at the age of 19 and has three biological children and five adopted children. Ozokwor became a widow in 2000 after losing her husband.

Before becoming an actress, Ozokwor worked as an announcer and broadcaster with Radio Nigeria. Her rise to fame began with her role in the 1999 film Authority, and she has since appeared in over 100 films. She also gained recognition for her role in the NTA soap opera Someone Cares.

Recently, Ozokwor appeared in Mo Abudu's Netflix films Chief Daddy (2018) and Chief Daddy 2: Going for Broke (2022), where she played the character Madam Pat.

Patience Ozokwor married at 19 and lost her husband to a terminal illness. She has three biological children, five adopted children, and several grandchildren. In addition to her acting career, she is an ordained evangelist.
